The Wuchang Station designed by SIYUAN came into operation on December 18, 2007. The station building has a total floor area of 57,000 square meters, with a max. number of assembling passengers of 8,000; and the platform canopy covers an area of 63,240 square meters. During the design-build process, by numerous studies and trials in terms of design concept, new materials, new technologies, and new structures, SIYUAN engineers have effectively settled come technical problems such as meeting the requirement of clear height for suspended ceiling when the floor height of the building are highly restricted, and satisfying the requirement of comfortableness for large-span structure floor. The completed station building with full-bodied flavors of Jin-Chu Culture has become a landmark of Wuhan. It’s a typical representative and excellent showcase of the third-generation railway passenger stations in China.
In 2009, it has been honored with the Architectural Creation Award for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China by the Architectural Society of China.
